Rabbi Elliot Hecht

Rabbi Elliot Hecht has been with the Hebrew Academy of Nassau County since 1999.  In 2004, he assumed the position of Principal of the Middle School.  Prior to that, Rabbi Hecht served in various capacities including: teacher, mechanech (grade advisor), and Assistant Principal.  He was thrilled to join the faculty as he is a graduate of HANC’s Elementary, Middle, and High Schools.  Rabbi Hecht holds a Bachelor’s degree from Yeshiva University, Smicha from RIETS (Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary), a Master’s degree and specialist’s certificate in administration and supervision from Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education and Adminstration.

Prior to joining HANC, Rabbi Hecht taught in various Hebrew Schools across Long Island.  Rabbi Hecht also worked in informal education for Long Island NCSY as an advisor and director of programming.  Additionally, he served as the youth director at the Young Israel of Plainview.

Rabbi Hecht’s philosophy of education is aligned with differentiating instruction and helping to ensure that the needs of each and every child are met.  His ultimate goal is that each and every child is able to reach his/her full potential.
Mrs. Jennifer Morey
Assistant Principal

Albert Einstein said, "I have no special talent, I am only passionately curious." As an educator, Mrs. Morey believes that the sentiment behind this quotation sums up the type of environment that she hopes to facilitate; one where the students are inspired and uniquely curious about their world. Mrs. Morey always wanted to be an educator and she believes in the importance of creating a school that is a community. She joined the HANC family after teaching English for six years, four of those serving as English Department Chair and one as Guidance Counselor. After college, she attended Columbia Teacher’s College in New York City and received a Masters in English Education grades 7-12. She is currently pursuing her Masters in Educational Leadership at American College of Education and is expected to graduate in Aug 2019.
Mrs. Morey is thrilled to join Rabbi Hecht and be part of a faculty that works closely together to guide each and every student to academic success. The middle school years are an important and critical time for students. What happens during these years will have a lasting impact on their growth and development, therefore it is vital that the teachers, parents and administration continue to work together to make the HANC middle school years enjoyable and memorable. The HANC middle school students know what Mrs. Morey is available night or day to assist, answer questions or just give advice.  Besides her administrative duties, Mrs. Morey teaches two English classes and mentors extra curricular groups.
