Rabbi Adelman

Rabbi Adelman, M.Ed, a transplanted New Yorker, joins the HANC family following a seventeen year journey to Houston, TX. Rabbi Adelman  received his smicha from Rabbi Menachem Davidowitz of the Talmudic Institute of Upstate New York, an affiliate of the Chofetz Chaim Yeshiva. He also earned a Masters degree in Education and Administration from State University of New York College at Brockport.

Rabbi Adelman, began his educational career first as a popular rebbe and then Assistant Principal of the Robert M. Beren Academy (RMBA). He remained at RMBA for nine years, forging meaningful and lasting relationships with his talmidim and talmidot, many of whom continue to join the Adelman family for Shabbatot and Yamim Tovim.  Most recently, Rabbi Adelman spent these past eight years at the Emery/Weiner School (EWS) where he was celebrated as a passionate and caring educator and leader. Rabbi Adelman served EWS as their first ever Director of Judaic Studies (three years) and then Head of Upper School (five years).

In addition to his achievements in educational settings, Rabbi Adelman is warmly regarded for his summer camp work with over 15 years combined experience as Division Head and Program Director in campsMogen Avraham and Avraham Chaim Heller. He also was very involved in communal affairs serving as gabbai, vice-president, and president of the Young Israel of Houston, all experiences which have helped shape his character and leadership style.
With Rabbi Adelman as its Principal, HANC High School has a dedicated leader with a vision for the school, based on his commitment to move the school forward while ensuring that HANC continues to flourish as a first-rate makom Torah committed to imbuing a superior Torah and general studies education,middot tovot, and ahavat Yisrael in all students.

Rabbi Adelman and his wife Chany, together with their four children (Elisha, Mayer, Adina, and Yonah) are excited to join the HANC family and become part of the Long Island Jewish community.
Mrs. Palaia
Associate Principal

Mrs. Marie Palaia has been an educator for over thirty-one years and has been at HANC High School for the past twenty-five years.  Mrs. Palaia is a graduate of Hofstra University, where she received her B.A. in Science and an M.A. in Biology.  After doing research for two years at Mt. Sinai Hospital, Mrs. Palaia decided to pursue her passion for education and became a certified educator in Biology and Chemistry.  In addition, she completed an Educational Leadership Program at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and holds a School Building Leader License issued by New York State.
Most recently in 2013, she was appointed as the school’s first Dean of Student Affairs. During her tenure as Dean, she was responsible for handling and overseeing all student disciplinary and academic issues. She worked closely with the administration, teachers, students and parents to build a positive learning environment. She mentored and worked with faculty and was responsible for writing the revised student handbook.  She was also responsible for scheduling classes, developing curriculum, working with the College Guidance Department, discussing teacher and student expectations, and the long-term goals for the school.
Before arriving at HANC, Mrs. Palaia began her teaching career at HAFTR High School. She has been the Science Chairperson for the past eighteen years and has taught many science classes over the years. As the Science Chairperson, she was responsible for introducing HANC’s Engineering program and mentoring and supervising teachers.  In addition, Mrs. Palaia has been very involved with experiential education, serving as Yearbook Advisor, Honor-Society Advisor, Blood-Drive Advisor, Peer-Tutoring Advisor, and the advisor to our newly formed Pre-Medical Society.
Mrs. Palaia is a life-long learner, who believes the nature and quality of learning experiences must be exemplary. She believes that all children can learn and be successful when they are valued, respected, and supported.  As a leader, her focus will be to continually promote best teaching practices, personal growth and student success, and to continue to educate, motivate, and inspire all members of the school community. She has seen firsthand that encouragement and praise are strong motivators for student success and is looking forward to continuing to strive for excellence in her new position.
Mrs. Palaia and her husband Thomas have been married for over thirty years and have two sons, Thomas and Joseph.
Tziporah Zucker
Assistant Principal

Ms. Tziporah Zucker has recently been named as Assistant Principal of HANC's High School. She has been at HANC for the past thirteen years, working in both the Middle and High School. For the last six years, she has served as the Assistant to the Principals of the high school, while still teaching Jewish History in the middle school. Her position in the high school for the last 3 years also included serving as Director of Admissions.

Ms. Zucker holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education and Psychology from Touro College, a Teacher’s Certificate from the Misrat Hachinoch, Israel’s Ministry of Education, and a Master’s degree in Education from Adelphi University. Ms. Zucker is currently pursuing a second degree in Educational Leadership.

In addition to her formal education, Ms. Zucker has participated and has been trained in various educational programs such as School Attuned-All Kinds of Minds, Yeshiva University Holocaust Seminar and curriculum planning, has created educational webquests, and has taught abroad for two summers in Russia.

The theory of multiple intelligences, the work of Howard Gardner, has had a profound impact on Ms. Zucker’s belief in education. She applies this theory by working collaboratively with her colleagues to ensure that every student enrolled in our high school college preparatory program has the opportunity to explore and develop his/her different interests and talents; preparing the individual for the outside world to become active leaders in his/her respective communities.
Rabbi Ehrenfeld
Dean of Students

Rabbi Etan Ehrenfeld is excited to be joining HANC High School as the Dean of Students. Rabbi Ehrenfeld studied at Yeshiva University where he earned a B.A. in Mathematics, and an M.A. in Jewish Education as well as Semicha. He spent two years in the Yeshiva University Torah Mitzion Kollel of Chicago. Rabbi Ehrenfeld then served as the Assistant Rabbi at Kehilat Chovevei Tzion in Skokie, IL, as well as working at Ida Crown Jewish Academy, where he taught Gemarah, Tanach and Math. He also served as the Israel Guidance Counselor and Student Activities Coordinator. 
Rabbi Ehrenfeld and his wife, Tamar, and their three children, Netanel, Adira and Meira, are thrilled to be moving (back) to the New York area and to be joining the HANC family.
